SAXILBY NEWSPAPER COLLECTIONS

One of the many activities the Saxilby Scout and Guide Association performs to help keep down the costs of subscriptions is the regular Newspaper collection.

Every week (on a Rota Basis) we empty the newspaper bins in the village hall car park.  Then, each month,  we go around Saxilby collecting newspapers the residents leave in bundles outside their properties and fill a container which is brought to take the newspapers for recycling.  The newspaper collection is done as a group rota (Cubs, then Beavers , Scouts, Guides, Brownies and  Senior Section).

This is an extremely important activity for the association, not just because it lessons the environmental impact of printed news, but also because we are paid to do this.  Without this regular income, the subscription fee for all sections would be much higher and we would not be able to run so many activities.

We are always looking for helpers to join the rota to help us with this activity.  If you would like to help out then please talk to one of the leaders or use the contact form on the bottom right of the page.
